Winsford is about ten miles north of the clinic — drive via the A54 and the A530, or the B5074 through Church Minshull, or take a direct train from Winsford station into Crewe.
Winsford is one of the few towns in mid-Cheshire that can reach our Crewe clinic by a direct train: Winsford station, on the Wharton side of town, sits on the line into Crewe, and our door at 139-141 Nantwich Road is a short walk from Crewe station at the far end. Drivers have two natural routes — east along the A54 to pick up the A530 south past Leighton Hospital, or the quieter B5074 through Church Minshull to Nantwich and then the A534 into Crewe. Either way it is about ten miles, generally twenty to twenty-five minutes.
Salt runs deep here, quite literally: rock salt is still mined beneath Winsford, ending up gritting roads across Britain every winter, and the flashes on the River Weaver below the town were left behind by centuries of extraction. It is a place used to sending things far afield — and its people travel too, whether that means a first family holiday abroad from Over or Wharton, a honeymoon in the tropics, or the kind of long trip that needs certificates as well as sun cream.
